SFACON 2022 COLORADO MOTORCYCLE TOUR

Welcome to Colorado! If you haven’t been here before we’ve assembled some notes for you as you enjoy our wonderful scenery during the ride.

While the route we chose is fairly short (174 miles) it will take about 4 to 5 hours to cover the distance with planned stops. Additionally, we go from 6,100 feet above sea level to 10,000 feet, down to 5,300 feet and back to the hotel at 6,100 feet. Remember to drink plenty of water and dress accordingly as the temperatures change with the altitude and terrain.

Our Route; Riders are encouraged to start with a full tank of gas. There are two gas stations at the entrance to the hotel. Our first opportunity for a stop is at Elijah Murphy’s Historic Ute Inn in Woodland Park for those that wish to eat/drink, say Hi to Murph and use the facilities. We will stop at Wilkerson Pass to view the high plains and the Collegiate Peaks. Our next stop is in Hartsel, once a rendezvous location for mountain men. Approximately 3 to 5 miles from Hartsel is a ranch that has a significant amount of buffalo and if they are near the road we will stop for photos. There is an opportunity in Canon City, and Florence for gas/food and facilities. Our next planned stop is at the Special Forces Motorcycle Club’s Clubhouse on 206 South Pikes Peak Avenue in Florence to stretch and get some refreshments. Once done there we will continue north on 115 to Lake and back to the hotel.

We caution all riders that wildlife is prevalent along the roads all over Colorado, so beware! The roads have many hills, sharp curves, switchbacks and chicanes to maneuver, so watch your speed. We will have a motorcycle mechanic and tow truck follow us on the ride if there is any need for vehicle recovery.

A commemorative t-shirt will be available at $45.00 each. Please let us know your size.

All riders and passengers will sign a liability waiver prior to departing from the hotel.
