Default Need Help Identifying Camp (non-member request)

In November or December of 1968 I was sent to a remote fire base to retrieve a peice of our equipment. Ended up I was at this area for almost a month. My unit had a mission to haul some Ammunitions to this area. I do not remember the name of this Fire Base if I ever knew it. I would like to know where I was .

Description: There was a small river that ran along the Fire base side of the area. There were three bunkers (sand bagged ) facing the river. Looking toward the river I pulled my shift og sitting on top of this bunker on the rightside end bunker. There also was a cemetary on this same end of the three bunkers. The cemetary was behind the bunker and to the right of the bunker. On the left end of this bunker line of three eack was parked a half track with Quad Fiftys mounted in the back of it . On past that was a trench that the ARVNS would occupy in the evening until early am. I remember them walkig past the bunker I was sitting with jabbering about something. They walked on past the guns inwhich were M-110 and M-107. 8" nad 175 long barrel guns.

Once past the guns there was a road the led past a Montagnard villiage ( on the left) then onto a grass airstrip. On this entry end was a concrete emplacement where Special forces Soldiers worked out of.(to my left.) It was built against a hill facing the length of the airstrip. On down the gray runway (air strip) on the left was a church. past that looked like another Montagnard villiage across a small creek or ditch . Never did get very close to that villiage . There was a Viet Maneses ( young fella that did things and ran errands for the SF camp. He was called Charlie.

Looking from the SF emplacement with the air strip .On the right side was another concrtete emplacement dwelling for Arvn soldiers. There were radio commo antennas So may have been head quarters not sure. I do remember one of the fellas from the fire base that manned the quads . I was thinking he told me his unit was 1/46th may not have been what he said too.

The equipment I came to retrieve was a GOER. It was towed to the air strip by a small bull dozer. This is where I separated the vehicle into two peices. By detaching the cab from the cargo bed. Later on afew days . A CH54 showed up hooked opn to the cab and flew it mabe to chu lia or Tam Key. My unit was staying at Hawk Hill during this time . So which ever one was closest is where the Cab was flown to. Mabe the next day they came for the cargo bed. These Goers were experimental at the time. (Government Operational Experimantal Research) .

I was thinking this may have been BOTO or Mabe Tra Bong........I really have no idea .Myfeelings would be ever so grateful for any help here..........Thank You

Default I.D. Camp

Larry May, Are you sure of the date of this time, the reason I ask is in 1966 I was picked and transported from between Konthom to Pleiku by a convoy of GOER"S. The best I recollect I had a Company of Montaguards and four Americans(150) personnel. We were loaded into the trailer(GOERS) about 25 to each trailer,standing-up and holding onto the sides, this was one of the roughest rides I have ever experienced in my twenty year military career, as a matter of fact I had the driver stop about a mile from our compound in Pleiku and let us off, and we walked into camp.Robert F.
