My name is Mark Smithhart and I just met my biological dad about 3 years ago and would like to find anyone who knows him or who may have served with him to get any info or stories they may have about him.
he served from 1959-1991 and at retirement he was CSM Floyd "sonnie" Clark and was CSM of the First Army.
Some of his stops along the way were-
started of with the Green Berets during Vietnam
NCO of the Cambodian Combat Center during the Vietnam War
Commandant of the NCO Academy in Panama and sgt. major of the Jungle Warfare training center there in the late 1970s to early 1980s.
also he was the sgt major at Fort Benning,Ft Polk, Fort Carson that I know of and like I said he was Command Sgt Major of the first Army at the time of his retirement in 1991.
He is now ** and raises quarter horses outside of **. He is not in good health due to agent orange and has suffered several heart attacks and now has 7 stints in his heart.
I am looking for anyone who may have served with him or knew him to collect anytype of stories I can about him. His basic attitude is that "it was just his job" but he has silver and bronze stars and 9 purple hearts among his medals so I know there have to be stories there somewhere.
Again if anyone has naything to share it would be greatly appreciated,
Mark Smithhart
